THREE WAYS TO THINK ON WHAT IS GOOD

WHAT WE FOCUS ON WILL LEAD TO THE PATH THAT WE WILL TAKE.

Choosing to think on what is good will help to guide us through this year with God’s peace.

Think on What Is Good

Philippians 4:8–9 (AMP)

Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart]. The things which you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things [in daily life], and the God [who is the source] of peace and well-being will be with you.

We have a choice as to what we will think on. In this life it is imperative that we focus on what is good and what will bring us peace.

Here are three ways to think on what is good:

1. Fill Up with God’s Truth

Most importantly, if we are going to think about what is good, we must think on God’s truths. We can seek God in His Word. Many times, I ask God for a scripture that will help me in my daily life. Often, I will turn His scripture into a prayer. His word is so powerful. If we believe His word applies to us personally, it will change our thinking, and transform our lives.

2. Create Faith Reminders

We can stir up our own faith by remembering the truths that we want God to seal into our hearts. One way to do this is by creating faith reminders. I have done this by writing scriptures on index cards or sticky notes. Then I place them strategically where I will see them most often. Those written truths encourage me to believe God and think on what is good.

3. Lean on a Friend’s Faith

It is not always easy to think on what is good. Sometimes we need another person’s perspective. It is important to have faithful friends we can grow with and count on. They can encourage us when our faith is weak and pray for us when we can’t see our way through. They remind us of the good that God can do in our situation.

Let’s end with a scripture we can think on.

Colossians 1:11 (NLT)

We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy.

Now let’s pray that same scripture:

“Lord, I pray You will strengthen me with all of Your glorious power so that I will have all the endurance and patience I need. Fill me with Your joy.”

Can you share your something good that you are focusing on?

Blessings in all that you will do,

Dawn
